Meeting Minutes

October 13, 2008 minutes approved

 

Treasury Report:

The Cherokee wrestling program banks with Crescent Bank.  Laura Anderson reported the bank balance was $1005.16.  $1000.00 was taken in from registration fees.  $310.00 was spent on weight certification.  We will owe for one more weight certification.  Wayne Otto reported that we owe some small misc. items.  We also owe Shawn Finch $60.00 for USA club registration fees.  The loan balance on the building will be reported each month on the financial report.

New Business:

  • Spirit Wear:  Need a volunteer to get with a couple of venders, and get an order form together, for tee shirts, shorts.  We also need someone to collect the orders, money, and distribute the items when they come in.

 

  • Dirty South tournament concession stand:  We need to plan a simple menu, and purchase items that will sell.  We will assign families to work the concession stand in different time slots.  We will also ask the middle school and youth program to help.  We are looking at 13-14 teams to participate in the tournament.  We are also looking into the possibility of having a one day tournament.

 

  • Home matches: December 17, 2008 home match has been canceled due to finals. In 2009 we should have the old gym for more home matches.  We have a $6,500.00 bus budget.  We will probably carpool to the close to home matches such as Etowah, Sequoyah and Pickens.

 

  • Wall of Fame:  We want to promote our wrestling program.  We will put 8 x10 framed pictures of wrestlers that have placed in state tournaments on the wall. We will also have a place for the team’s statistics.  The middle school and youth teams will be included.

Youth Update:

Registration November 9, 10, 11, 2008.  Practice will start Monday 17, 2008

 

MS Update:

Looking into students riding the bus from Teasley to CHS, to participate in training.  The 7th grade will work out only.   The 8th grade will work out and participate on Jr. Varsity.

 

CHS Update:

On November 10, 2008 we had 51 in training.  Coach Otto has cleaned out the wrestling room, and office.  Mrs. Biser is purchasing tarps to cover insulation.  Shawn Finch is talking to Home Depot about indoor and outdoor carpet.  We are also looking into yard signs to promote the wrestling program.  Holly Ponder is working on parent and senior recognition night on January 14, 2009.

 

 

Future Meeting Dates:  December 8, 2008, at this meeting we need to finalize plans for concessions for the Dirty South tournament.
